Stock Markets Tumble

The New York Stock Exchange fell by one-thousand points at the opening bell on Monday and remains volatile. Pundits say this is caused by China’s stock market, which has been in shambles over the past few weeks. [In our view, it has little to do with China’s manipulated stock market and much to do with the US manipulated stock market.] CBS 2015 Aug 24 (Story)

Our readers have spoken!

This is the fourth edition of Need to Know Around the World, which is the new name and look for Unfiltered News.

Last week, I asked for input on how you liked (or disliked) our new format. The overwhelming majority of those who responded said they thought the new format was great. You will find some of their comments in the Forum section of this edition.

However, there were a few negative comments that really caught my attention. Several readers said they found it difficult to track two columns of text, side-by-side, each with different subject matter.

I had to admit they had a good point. When we read a newspaper with multiple columns, we can glance from top to bottom of one column and then easily jump to the top of the next column. However, reading two columns on a computer screen is like reading a newspaper through a square hole in a piece of cardboard that slides over the page. It’s not the same experience.

The problem of dual columns manifested itself in other ways as well. With each passing month, more readers are viewing our publication on iPads and Smart Phones. Trying to crowd all this material into a small screen forces a re-arrangement of our material into patterns that can appear unintuitive and clumsy on mobile devices.

So, what to do? The fact that you are reading this means you already know that the layout has been returned to just one news column – the way it used to be. The result may be less graphically attractive, and the single column now is longer, but it insures that mobile devices will always start at the top of the news and progress from one section to the next in exactly the sequence intended.

I hope you approve – but be sure to let me know if you do not. This is a continuing experiment, and I am looking forward to learning from your experience.

Lebanon: Demonsrations over uncollected garbage have escalated into violent clashes between citizens and police in what is now being called the “You Stink!” movement. The unrest has now grown from discontent over garbage to ire over ‘government corruption’. The collapse of Lebanon would benefit the West and would leave Assad in Syria with one less ally. North Dakota: US District Judge, Ralph Erickson, has issued a temporary injunction blocking the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers from regulating small streams, tributaries, and wetlands under the Clean Water Act. The EPA will honor the injunction in the thirteen states that sued the agency, but the regulations will be implemented in all other states. Huff Post 2015 Aug 27 (Story) (Cached)

North Dakota passed a bill that began with the intent of requiring police to obtain a warrant to use drones, and it proposed banning weapons from being mounted on drones. As often happens, however, lobbyists are able to obtain legislative amendments that produce different results than the public expected. In this case, lobbyist Bruce Beckett rewrote the bill to ban only ‘lethal’ weapons on drones used by law enforcement. That means they can be equipped with tasers and gas canisters. Let’s see, now. How many people have been killed by ‘non-lethal’ gas and tasers? TechAeris 2015 Aug 27 (Story) (Cached)

Virginia: Vester Flanagan was fired from his job two years ago and sought revenge by shooting and killing two journalists who worked for WDBJ, his former employer. Flanagan claimed that he suffered racial and sexual discrimination, but the TV news station says he was fired because of his angry outbursts. ABC News 2015 Aug 26 (Story)

The Obama administration is blaming guns for the shooting by Vester Flanagan in which he killed two journalists. The White House consistently has insinuated that racism is the dominant factor behind similar events over the past several years and even Flanagan admitted that he was motivated by a “race war”. Still, the administration continues to blame gun ownership. InfoWars 2015 Aug 26 (Story) (Cached)

Ferguson, Missouri: Municipal Court Judge Donald McCullin ordered that all arrest warrants issued in the city before 2015 be withdrawn. The price of oil has plunged from $103 per barrel last year to a new low of $42. This has been a hard hit on the economies of oil-exporting countries, such as Russia, Nigeria, Venezuela, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, and the Persian Gulf states. The glut in the oil market is a result of greatly increased production by the US and the Saudis who seem to be attempting to drive prices down to force their competitors out of the market. News and commentaries that reveal historical facts and trends that place current events into perspective and make it possible to anticipate future events.

Germany: Justice Minister Heiko Maas wants Facebook to remove ‘racist’ posts targeting asylum seekers after recent attacks on refugee camps. Twenty buildings used as refugee centers have gone up in flames in the country this year. Large areas of land in California’s Central Valley farming region are reportedly sinking as a result of farmers pumping too much groundwater to irrigate their crops during the drought. California’s Department of Water Resources is requiring these areas to come up with a plan to save water. Critics say that the state is trying to take over the water rights of landowners. [Although not mentioned in this report, other critics say the water is being wasted in environmental-protection schemes and being exported out of the area by privately controlled water districts to the highest bidders. No matter how you look at it, the fear of a water crisis is being used by governments and speculators alike to take water rights away from landowners.] ABC News 2015 Aug 26 (Story)

A VOTE FOR THE OLD NAME
2015 Aug 30 from Serg Remy
I preferred Unfiltered News! It just sounds better.

2015 Aug 29 from Carol Stuthridge Thank you for mobilizing the website! It’s much easier to use on my phone. Did you know that mobile Internet viewing now exceeds PC Internet viewing? Good work!

NEW SITE A JOY TO NAVIGATE
2015 August 28 from twililz
[This message was received shortly after the single-news-column version was published. Twiliz may have been the first person to view it on a smartphone.]
Good Day, Mr. Griffin. I am finding the new site a joy to navigate, especially on my G4 cellphone. Thank you for a solid upgrade!

NEW SITE A SHOCK AT FIRST
2015 Aug 25 from Christina Sophia
Well, it was sort of a ‘shock’ to see it at first, and the two photos with the first two news items threw me a little as I have become so accustomed to seeing the cartoon near the top. If you are discontinuing those I will miss them, as I always enjoyed them each week. It usually takes some getting used to changes, but I think I’m already used to the new look (took an hour), and now that I have read it all for this week, I don’t find the format very different.

I am liking the slight re-organization of content with the news in two columns and the color changes – which are not extreme – and are pleasant to look at. The new header is great and the blue border attractive. I would say you have achieved a more integrated graphic/symbolic look that suits your content and purpose. Even if I didn’t like it however, I would not stop reading it for such a reason!

KNOWLEDGE FROM 1850s
2015 Aug 25 from Alejandro Szita
Dear Ed, this is just to let you know that your rendition of The Law by Monsieur Bastiat is the most extraordinary piece of enlightened knowledge I have yet studied. I have read many books, listened to many lectures, but this voice from the 1850s has a clarity of mind that I have never encountered so far. Thank you for bringing this knowledge to life.

OLD FORMAT LOOKED TIRED
2015 Aug 24 from Keller Wieler
Hi here, actually the new format seems nice and simple, easy to read on my mac computer and large screen. it has easy to read font, easy flow, simple columns, and no ads cluttering along the way down the page. the old format just looked tired to me, and it looked old school. it was more cluttery, and some of the stuff on the sides columns made it look a little cheesy… so, this new format is a welcome refreshment.

NEW FORMAT HARDER TO READ
2015 Aug 24 from Claudia Park
I thought your old format was just fine. The new one is much harder to read and follow. Sorry.

SHORT AND SWEET RESPONSE
2015 Aug 24 from Sherry P. Jackson
I love the new look! It’s user friendly and easier to follow.

THUMBS DOWN ON TWO COLUMNS
2015 Aug 24 from Bmobley
I, too, don’t like the new design. The side-by-side columns make it very aggravating to move from one subject to another. Still love the content though!

TOO MUCH SCROLLING
2015 Aug 24 from Dena
As for your news site, I can’t say that I “hate” it but I don’t like the fact that I have to scroll back and forth (really up and down) to read the whole page. I read left, then right, then if the article was long have to scroll back up to get the next article. Much more time consuming than being able to read straight down like the old one, because i’m always losing my place and end up re-reading stuff.

CONTENT WITH EITHER FORMAT
2015 Aug 24 from Paul
I read your column every week. It’s among the best alternative news sources I repeatedly turn to. The content is what is important, and that is continuing at the same high level. As to format, I’m content with either. The new may be a small improvement. Thanks for your ongoing efforts.

TWO COLUMNS IS DISTRACTING
2015 Aug 24 from Carolyn
I don’t like the multi-column forma, and find myself moving back and forth from column one to column two to make sure I catch everything. I can’t tell the difference between the stories in columns 1 and 2 – I think 1 is “analysis,” but the format of some of the stories seem the same as some in column 2. It’s distracting to have to switch back and forth between the columns. I do enjoy your compendium of news, and thank you for putting it together.

GOOD THINGS IN THE NEW FORMAT
2015 Aug 24 from Steve Youngblood
I must admit I wasn’t thrilled with the changes at first, but that is to be expected with anything new. People are used to the old format. But after just 2 or 3 issues, I do like the new format better. It is more aesthetically pleasing, better spacing, the colors are a good choice, and the two columns are a nice touch. By far the best of all is the change on the hyperlink. Before the link seemed to be the whole text summary, the whole paragraph. I post these articles to Facebook, and other social media, so I copy the text. A lot of times I would have liked to copy a segment of it, and it wouldn’t let me do that b/c it was a paragraph long link. So having the ability to just click on (Story) is a big improvement to me.

As a general comment, I just want to say that it’s all great info, and even though I spend a lot of time keeping up with what’s going on, you always seem to find important issues that other sites missed. So I greatly appreciate you sharing the articles, and even more important, your excellent analysis to help us understand the big picture. So thank you for all the years of keeping us informed with all the vital information and perspective you selflessly share. I support the site by buying the excellent products as much as I can afford to. Keep up the great work, and I think the new format is great.

LIKES THE OLD FORMAT BETTER
2015 Aug 24 from Iman
Sorry, I liked it better before the change. I view it full page.

NEW FORMATY IS GREAT
2015 Aug 24 from Sue
I like the new look. It’s very readable and the colors are pleasing to the eye and easy to follow. Thank you to all who worked on it. It’s great.

NEW SITE HAS ‘FLARE’
2015 Aug 24 from Ed Anderson
I believe your new web site design works just fine and it is just as functional as the old site but with a little more contemporary flare. Keep up the good work in providing us with the news and analysis we can’t find anywhere else.

NEW SITE LENDS MORE LEGITIMACY
2015 Aug 24 from Alejandro Szita
I believe your new website design is quite an improvement over the previous one which indeed looked a bit outdated. This design is clearer, more modern, it looks cooler and, in my opinion, it lends more legitimacy to its content.

PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS
2015 Aug 24 from Ron Pulham
You call that a redesign? You just changed the header, changed the background to blue, and replaced the ads on the left with news and comments. I don’t like ads any more than the next guy, but the content in the left margin looks out of place. My advice is to either do a complete re-design, or put it back the way it was.

For those of you who may have several computers in service, including an old one still running legacy programs that will not work on modern operating systems, you should know that versions 8 and 9 of Internet Explorer cannot read some of the more modern programming code that is embedded in this new website. What happens is that the blue color that is intended to be seen only around the outside edges of the site bleeds through and obliterates all text and images.

As far as I know, there is nothing that can be done to overcome this problem except to upgrade that old browser with a new one. You will find an interesting discussion of this problem here.

Is it possible that a suppressed technology exists in the archives at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory that can produce electrical power from nuclear energy with almost zero health risk? Is it possible that this technology would produce no nuclear waste that lasted more than a few years? The Russian Prosecutor-General’s Office says that the activities of the US National Endowment for Democracy are classified as “undesirable”. That means the Russian government considers it to be a threat to its interests. Carl Gershman, the neo-conservative who has been president of the NED since it was founded in 1983, confirmed this by stating that the NED was a cover for distributing funds among opposition movements in foreign countries. The idea is to do openly and in the name of democracy what the CIA traditionally does covertly in the name of national security. NEO posted 2015 Aug 8 (Story) (Cached)

Tom finally decided to tie the knot with his longtime girlfriend. One evening, after the honeymoon, he was cleaning one of his cars for an upcoming show. His wife was standing there at the bench watching him. After a long period of silence she finally speaks.

“Honey, I’ve been thinking, now that we are married, maybe it’s time you quit spending all your time out here in the garage and you should consider selling your cars and your gun collection.”

Tom gets a horrified look on his face. She says, “Darling, what’s wrong?”

“There for a minute you were starting to sound like my ex-wife.”

“Ex wife!”, she screams, “YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU WERE MARRIED BEFORE!!!!!!!”

Tom’s reply: “I wasn’t”.

HE HATES OUR NEW FORMAT. DO YOU?
posted 2015 Aug 20 from E.B.
Just leave it to people to screw up a good thing. Why fix something that is not broken? Compared to the original, you have made your site practically unreadable. I hate the new format, vis a vis the old, which I always thought was very well designed and eminently readable. Your choice of design and color made it very special, and it stood out in a sea of humdrum competition. No longer….just white and bland, and not especially easy to navigate.

I am a regular reader, but no more. Maybe you did it to better place advertising, but with no eyeballs, what good are ads? Go back to your old format or risk wholesale defection.

REPLY FROM GEG:
What a blow this is! We spent well over a hundred hours to accomplish what we thought was an upgrade in our old site because readers had told us they thought it was badly outdated. Frankly, I was rather pleased with the new design, but now I am having doubts. By the way, there is lots of color on the new site, much more than on most others, and there are no white pages. Even so, I am anxious to know what you think. When responding, please let us know if you view this page on a full computer screen, iPad, or Smart Phone. (Send comments here.)

The new format looks great! It is working in my old Internet Explorer 9 – I’m still using Windows Vista. Vista does not support anything higher than IE 9, which is starting to create a problem with some of the more advanced web pages out there. My solution was to install Mozilla Firefox. It’s free. I now use Firefox as a standby browser for pages that don’t work in IE 9. I could use Google Chrome but I’d rather not give up all that private information to use anything Google. GREAT JOB ON THE NEW FORMAT!!!

GO EASY ON NUCLEAR
2015 Aug 10 from George Lilly
Go easy on nuclear. Read Dr. John Coleman’s book The Committee of 300 and see that nuclear is a threat to the Establishment, and they will slam the door on it if they can. You know it costs over $1billion just to get permission to build a nuclear plant. 75% of France’s electricity comes from nuclear, and we don’t hear about disasters and tragedies there, and it would be hard to conceal if they were happening. THIS WEEK IN REVIEW

This is the second edition of Need to Know Around the World, which is the new name and look for Unfiltered News.

Judging by the feedback from our readers so far, we hit the bull’s-eye with these changes. However, we still still are anxious to know what you think, especially if there are any features you would like to see changed or added.
We deliberately did not include a cartoon last week to test the reaction – and only one reader urged us to continue them, so we currently are leaning toward cutting back on cartoons to the point where we will use only the best of the best, which likely will mean, on average, one cartoon per month.
OLD INTERNET EXPLORER CAUSING A PROBLEM?
For those of you who may have several computers in service, inclding an old one still running a few legacy programs that will not work on modern operating systems, you should know that versions 8 and 9 of Internet Explorer cannot read some of the more modern programming code that is embedded in this new website. What happens is that the blue color that is intended to be seen only around the outside edges of the site bleeds through and obliterates all text and images. As far as I know, there is nothing that can be done to overcome this problem except to upgrade that old browser with a new one. You will find an interesting discussion of this problem here.

Denver, Colorado: Mark Lannicelli was charged with seven felony counts of jury tampering for setting up a booth outside a courthouse and handing out information on jury nullification. Jury nullification is a long-established principle that jurors have the right to decide, not only the guilt of a defendant, but the merits of the law under which the defendant is charged. That means the jury can refuse to convict people who are technically guilty of violating a bad law. Most judges and prosecutors do not want juries to know about this option, because it can result in fewer convictions – such as with kids who face prison terms for merely smoking pot. This case may never make it to court because jury nullification would have to be explained to the jury, which was called tampering in Lannicelli’s case. Truthstream Media 2015 Aug 7 (Story)(Cached)

Donald Trump Dominates Republican Debate

It is revealing that Donald Trump was given more than double the speaking time that Rand Paul received. This suggests that Paul is more of a challenge to old-guard Republicans than Trump is. [The focus of all candidates, includng Trump, was on how bad things are and how to prevent Hillary from being elected. We are expected, not to vote for someone but to vote against someone. There is little, if any, discussion of positive political principles, restoration of sound money, or reversal of the loss of American sovereignty to the UN and its treaty organizations. Accounting Trick Averts Gold-Shortage Crisis

A few days ago, a Comex (Commodity Exchange) gold-warehouse report showed that the availability of registered gold was down to a mere 10 tons, the lowest it has been in modern times. That means there is one ounce of real gold for every 124 ounces that speculators think they own because they have paper contracts for it. To prevent panic among investors, a few days later, Comex reported that, miraculously, it’s eligible gold reserves jumped by a whopping 78% overnight, from 362K ounces to 643K. Worried investors went back to sleep thinking that the problem had been solved. However, the new “available” gold did not come from an influx of the real thing, but from an accounting trick performed by JPMorgan. The bank simply took 276,000 ounces of its “registered” gold (meaning registered to specific parties and not to be used for fulfillment of futures contracts) and reclassified it as “eligible” gold (meaning it can be delivered for fulfillment of contracts. Presto! Crisis solved – at the expense of those naive souls who think that banks can be trusted to honor their contracts. ZeroHedge 2015 Aug 6 (Story)(Cached)

HELLO AND WELCOME

This is the first edition of Need to Know Around the World, which is the new name and look for Unfiltered News.

Unfiltered News was launched ten years ago for the customers of Reality Zone, the online bookstore and marketing outlet for American Media. It was to be an antidote to what Orwell called Newspeak by removing the bias and errors often found in mainstream media, and it soon became the trusted, go-to news source for truth-seekers around the world.
However, something important happened during those years. As our readership expanded, we found that we were reaching a much broader audience than just bookstore customers. We are no longer preaching to the choir.
Most of our new subscribers resonate with the message in the phrase, unfiltered news, but many are hesitant to identify with that militant stance when interacting with others. They value the information, but are not yet ready for the crusade.
There is an advantage to being perceived as mainstream while, at the same time, delivering the same content and objectivity as before, so we began thinking about changing our moniker to something more universally appealing.
It was a hard task, because we had become fond of seeing the name, Unfiltered News, in our mail boxes every Friday. But when we hit upon the name, Need to Know, it was an instant winner. It carries a sense of importance and urgency and also retains a bit of the original message suggesting access to hidden information.
OTHER CHANGES
With this name change comes a host of other changes as well. The most obvious ones are in design and functionality, but not visible – yet – is that we hope to build a network of information services, similar to this one, in every county in America. In fact, at the risk of sounding delusional, we are thinking really big and, in our dreams, we envision affiliates in many other countries as well.
This process already has begun, In June, we launched Need to Know – in San Luis Obispo County, California as a pilot for this project, and it already has become a huge success within the community.
I hope you like our changes. I think we are on to something big.

A lawsuit by the Guardian newspaper forced Chicago police to disclose that they have detained and interrogated at least 3,500 people in a secret warehouse since 2004. Police and local politicians previously denied the existence of this operation. Arrests typically were for minor offenses such as drug possession and traffic violations. Records show that only three of those detainees had access to an attorney. Mainstream media is ignoring this story. PressTV 2015 Aug 6 (Story)

Tesco, a major grocery chain in the UK, is giving away unsold food at the end of each day to charities, such as homeless hostels and children’s breakfast clubs. The supermarket threw away 55,400 tons of food in the last year, more than half of which was perfectly good to eat. Wochit 2015 Aug 6 (Story)

The Israeli government, under its new zero-tolerance program to combat violence from Jewish right-wing extremists, jailed an ultra-Orthodox Jewish man, without trial, after he stabbed six people at a gay-pride parade. Before the new policy, only 7.4% of Jewish terrorists were formally charged. France 24 2015 Aug 4 (Story)

The FBI is investigating Hillary Clinton’s private email server that she used when she was the US Secretary of State. The cause of the investigation is that she sent out at least four classified documents that have been recovered from emails she deleted. No one knows how many others there may have been. Jesse Benton, Ron Paul’s grandson-in-law and former campaign manager, was indicted for a pay-off scheme to obtain campaign support. Benton is accused of paying $73,000 to Congressman Kent Sorenson to switch his endorsement from Michelle Bachmann to Ron Paul and then laundering the money through Sorenson’s film company. Neither Rand nor Ron Paul is under suspicion of having participated in this. IBT 2015 Aug 5 (Story) (Cached)

Kentucky: Kenton County Sheriff’s Deputy, Kevin Sumner, who works as a police officer at an elementary school, is being sued by the ACLU for violating federal law when he handcuffed two children that have hyperactivity disorders. Syria: An Al-Nusra group that is tied to Al-Qaeda captured five rebels that have been trained by the US to fight ISIS. The US has trained only 54 rebels to fight ISIS, and there appears to be no military advantage to having such a small force in the field. US officials are having trouble justifying the small numbers. CNN 2015 Aug 4 (Story)

Obama has authorized military attacks against Syrian government forces if they threaten Washington’s newly trained brigade, including the five rebels that were captured by an Al-Qaeda group. Washington strategists predicted that Al-Qaeda would welcome these US-backed fighters but, once again, they got it wrong. Former City-of-London trader, Tom Hayes, was convicted of conspiracy to defraud and was sentenced to 14 years in prison. Hayes set up a network of brokers and traders spanning ten financial institutions and cajoled or bribed them to help rig international bank-loan rates to favor his trades. Hayes has confessed but insists that he was merely a small cog in the banking machine, that rigging rates and prices is common, and that he is a scapegoat to shift attention away from those at the top. Joint Israeli-FBI operation discovers JPMorgan hacking scam. Four men, including two Israeli citizens, were arrested on charges of hacking into JP Morgan’s computers and gathering 83-million email addresses. Their intent was to conduct what is called a pump-and-dump scam to artificially inflate low-value stocks and then sell them at a substantial but unwarranted profit. The hack was so large that, initially, it was thought that the Russian government was responsible. Israel National News 2015 Aug 3 (Story) (Cached)

Former head of the Mt. Gox bitcoin exchange Mark Karpeles was arrested in Tokyo on suspicion of embezzlement. More than 850,000 bitcoins worth $400 million were supposedly stolen by a hacker, but former employees now are coming forward with information that implicates Karpeles as the hacker. Venezuela: Shortages of food and other necessities have led to looting and violence. President Maduro blames this on businesses and leaders of his political opposition. It is generally recognized, however, that that the causes are low oil prices, a dysfunctional currency that has been destroyed by inflation, and price controls. Reuters 2015 Aug 1 (Story)

Researcher, Igor Yakymenko, reviewed hundreds of cell-phone radiofrequency studies and found evidence that cell-phone radiation can cause damage to DNA and is linked to cancer. Using a phone one hour a day for four years increased the risk of some tumors three to five times. Brain cancer can take 30 years to develop. NY Daily News posted 2015 Aug 1 (Story) (Cached)

A new strain of GMO rice is being promoted as a solution to global warming because it produces only 1% of the methane that organic rice produces. Senior US health officials stopped the FDA from informing dentists of the risks of using mercury fillings. The Department of Health and Human Services claims that they suppressed the warning because low-income patients would not be able to afford mercury-free fillings. As many as 10% of those with mercury fillings suffer from serious health problems relating to mercury toxicity. If it were established that these fillings are sickening people, manufacturers of dental products and most dentists could face serious legal consequences. [This may have more to do with suppressing the information than concern for low-income patients.] McClatchy posted 2015 Aug 1 (Story) (Cached)

Corporations are planning to harness the “idle capacity” of utility smart meters by connecting them to an enormous supercomputer platform. Utilities support this plan because smart meters are idle over 95% of the time. Running them at full capacity would be a bountiful source of additional revenue. On the down side is the fact that bursts of radio energy from these meters already are causing health distress to thousands of people, and the cumulative effect lies ahead. Health risk would increase significantly with constant duty cycles. Smart Grid Awareness posted 2015 Aug 1 (Story) (Cached)

Newly revealed emails show that the Environmental Protection Agency has been working closely with “eco-friendly groups” such as the Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council. The significance of this is that these groups are funded by billionaires and corporations that economically benefit from EPA policies. Since EPA policies are greatly influenced by these same so-called Green groups, the conflict-of-interest becomes obvious. One critic says that this is the equivalent of the EPA collaborating with oil companies. Inquisitr 2015 Aug 1 (Story) (Cached)

ANALYSIS

News and commentaries that reveal historical facts and trends that place current events into perspective and make it possible to anticipate future events.

Mexico’s peso has fallen 9.7% this year, prompting the central bank to sell $200 million from its foreign-exchange reserves to slow the currency’s slide. They call this an “extraordinary auction sale” because it is in addition to the $200 million that the central bank normally sells each day to offset the same amount it normally takes in. In other words, Mexico doubled its normal sale, thereby reducing its reserves. It is a practice that cannot be sustained. Bloomberg 2015 Aug 5 (Story) (Cached)

The war against ISIS is a godsend to the defense industry. Lockheed Martin is supplying thousands of Hellfire missiles, AM General will supply 160 Humvee vehicles, and General Dynamics is providing millions of dollars worth of tank ammunition. There are 3,500 US troops stationed in Iraq, but the US also employs 6300 contractors. [None of this would be objectionable if the war were truly in defense of America.] RT 2015 Aug 4 (Story)

Anatomy of corruption: US: Lawmakers who voted against labeling GMO foods were paid three times as much by lobbyists from the food industry as those who voted for labeling. The top five recipients in the House of Representatives who supported the bill to keep GMOs secret include Frank Lucas, Collin Peterson, Mitch McConnell, Pat Roberts and Thad Cochran. Many of the lawmakers that received funding from agricultural lobbyists also sit on the House Agriculture Committee. RT 2015 Aug 3 (Story)

Washington has spent more than $2.7 billion in the past year on its bombing campaign against ISIS, however, US intelligence officials admit that the terror group has not been weakened by the airstrikes. While it is estimated that US efforts have resulted in killing 10,000 ISIS members, the group is replacing them faster than they are being killed. [The more we bomb, the more civilians are killed, and that makes it easy to recruit more enemies of America.] RT 2015 Aug 1 (Story)

DO IT YOURSELF DENTAL TREATMENT 2015 Aug 6 from Joseph Somario
Baking soda and 3% Hydrogen Peroxide does the trick. 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and baking soda mixed to a toothpaste and 3% Hydrogen Peroxide used as a mouth wash/rinse for 5-10 minutes after each brushing will accomplish very cheaply all that is necessary to improve or stop and may reverse just about any poor condition re: gums and teeth. Take that as gospel from an 86-year-old. HP $1.00 or less a quart. Baking soda even less. And yes a clean mouth will improve most heart conditions. All this for a couple of bucks or less a month. I know you want to push Cardio Miracle for $70.00 a month or more. Do right by your readers and let them read my email to you.

REPLY BY GEG:
I highly recommend the treatment mentioned by Joseph. Why? because I have used it myself. I can attest that, for me, it did help keep the bacteria at bay but it did not halt the periodontitis. I am glad to know that it is working for Joseph. It is well worth a try.

WHO YA’ GONA’ VOTE FOR? 2015 Aug 1 from Dena
OK, so who do you support for president?

REPLY FROM GEG:
Hello Dena.
I will support for President or Senator or Congressman the candidate who pledges to uphold the principles expressed in the Creed of Freedom. I will not waste my vote on those who will violate those principles, because that is the process that has brought this once great nation to its current state of crisis and demise. Pragmatism has failed. It is time to stand on principle. Thanks for asking.

THE NATION NEEDS A DOCTOR
2015 Aug 1 from Ed Lapinskas
GEG, I have digested the info on “Trump the pragmatist.” People need to ANALYZE a candidates political platform thoroughly BEFORE casting a vote. This was not done in 2008 and 2012, for sure. America has NOT been with a real leader since, possibly, JFK. Granted THAT is debatable in itself, however, remember that Ike was a member of the CFR. Reagan SURROUNDED himself with CFR members. SO, where does that leave America? My own personal ??? This nation is ILL. It needs a doctor.

COVERAGE OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD SOURS READER
2015 Aug 1 from Carol Dodd.

The so-called videos on this subject were doctored, spliced and edited to make this issue seem like something it wasn’t. It’s a witch hunt by the pro-life lobby to inject some impetus into the muddled republican campaign field by promoting republican ‘action’ to mollify the constituency with their attempt to defund Planned Parenthood to satisfy the religious base. It is an attempt to provide momentum to a political movement that is so full of hate that they hate and deride each other.

In truth, no tax dollars can be used by Planned Parenthood to fund abortions, and they do not ‘sell’ body parts. The funding cuts will impact preventive care, cancer detection and birth control availability to some of our most vulnerable populations. The ‘body parts’ are not sold, they are donated, not by Planned Parenthood, but by the women who have chosen to abort their non-viable fetuses, which is their legal right.

Trying to compare this with a public outcry from people who are sick and tired of the American cult of death…killing the living (while continuing their hypocritical ‘defense’ of the non-viable) whether it is a person, like a child shot down in a kindergarten class, a Bible study group in a church, or an animal that is supposed to be living on a preserve… is just plain sick. People world wide are outraged by this. But to say that there is no public outcry against human suffering is disingenuous. There is that as well, and there are thousands of groups, political, international, and even faith based, trying to combat those things.

Sir, I respected and recommen-ded your work, The Creature from Jekyll Island, on the Federal Reserve and I still believe that it is one of the most important works on finance written in the 20th century, and valuable even today. But lately, I feel your analysis of current situations, political and social, borders on the bizarre and the worst of sensationalism and fear mongering.
