Would it be better if some did not vote?

The following link takes you to what appears at first to be a funny series of man-on-the-street interviews eliciting stupid comments from the public. However, in spite of an added laugh-track to make sure this is perceived as humorous, actually it is one of the most frightening stories of the century.

Not only does it reveal how stunningly ignorant many people are about important issues, but how easily opinions can be engineered by the skilled use of words. What makes it even worse is that these people can vote. Here are the interviews:

This raises a serious question: Is self-rule really possible? Is it realistic to expect a political system to survive if it requires informed, conscientious citizens exercising their judgment by popular vote?

That will be the topic of commentary next week, and it will be based on a political essay written in 1960 by Senator William Fulbright, entitled The Elite and the Electorate. I think you will be surprised by my analysis.

Jurors in St. Louis awarded $72 million in damages to the family of a woman whose death from ovarian cancer was linked to her using Johnson & Johnson’s talc-based Baby Powder and Shower to Shower. Tech guru, John McAfee, is offering to hack the terrorist’s individual phone at no charge to the government and, thereby, protect the privacy of the general public. Syria: ISIS is claiming responsibility for detonating car bombs in a heavy traffic area in Homs and, a few hours later, two bombings in nearby Damascus. Reports confirm that the Chinese government is still removing and selling the organs of political and religious prisoners. Sometimes this is done without anesthesia. The government says these organ are voluntarily donated by the prisoners. Hi Mr Griffin,
I’m Robbert, a Belgian engineering student, and a few days ago, I heard from you for the first time. I’ve just watched this video. (I need to watch your other works on cancer and pharma fraud, but I find this kind of thing very interesting to see the bigger picture.) The idea of the whole monetary system being a scam wasn’t new to me, but yesterday I heard about the Rothenschild family. I never thought before of the fact that all this wealth and power must be flowing to some people, but now I can put a face on it. Right now, I feel as if I can’t escape from this scam, as they have so much power (just like you say here. Now, if I may, I have two questions for you:

– Have you ever been afraid of being silenced/killed? You try so hard to make the people aware of what is happening, and if we manage to change the system, some people are losing a lot of power. Power they could use right now to end it all before it goes out of control.

– Do you think the Bitcoin can be a solution to avoid the whole banking system? When I propose this to my friends, they say that banks are necessary; that sometimes we need loans that the bank can give us. They also think we need the government to be able to inject money in the economy when times are bad. I didn’t find a good answer yet to these arguments. (Or will there be no “bad times” if we can fix the system?)

Now to the questions. Yes, I am afraid of what they might do to me and my family, but I am even more afraid of what will happen to me and my family if we do not stop the global tyranny that now is descending on us. Men have gone into battle from the beginning of time afraid of what might happen to them but, if they are on the defensive side of the conflict, they have no honorable choice.

Bitcoin is an amazing technology and, in a free system, it could be an excellent alternative to settling financial transactions without banks. In a totalitarian system, however, it is almost useless, because the totalitarians can simply outlaw its use and severely punish those who break the law. The Internet can be used, not only to make transactions, but also to trace those transactions. There is no escape from tyranny except to dismantle it.

Your friends are right when they say that banks can and do perform a useful service to the economy. But we are not talking about those services. We are talking about a corrupt system in which banks and governments have formed a partnership by which the public can be legally plundered by inflation and bank bailouts. Your friends are suffering from a sadly incomplete understanding of what banks really do today. Banks do not need to be eliminated, only made to operate honestly.

Finally, the idea that governments need to inject money into the economy when times are bad is contrary to logic and certainly contrary to history. You cannot help people by giving them money you have stolen from them. In every case where there appears to be a boom in the economy from government injection of money, if you back off a bit and look at the long-term consequences, the effect is devastating. It’s like saying we can help a suffering drug addict by giving him more drugs. True, the immediate effect may be that he feels better at the moment, but he is made even more ill by the treatment and, eventually, he will die from it. The economy works the same way.

“SHATTER IT TO BITS” editorial

I share your feelings about the war in the Middle East. [Last week’s editorial, “Would we not shatter it to bits?”]

I lived in the Middle East and my wife and I had many Christian Arab friends. We went to the same church, were invited into their homes and were Godparents for their babies at Baptism, and sponsors for the older children at Confirmation. We now worry that our friends’ families are among the Syrian Christians hiding in the northern mountains of Syria.

Here in Canada I became a friend of a Syrian studying at McGill university in Montreal. He was very happy with Syria. He and his fellow Christians were protected by the government, as were the Druse and other religious and ethnic minorities. He even sent me pictures of Easter processions in Damascus, both Catholic and Orthodox. Now he is working in Amman, Jordan, for his father’s firm. He is safe, his family is safe in Beirut, but his extended family lived in northern Syria, and cannot be contacted.

Syria was a good country until outside powers decided to attack Assad. The “Rebels” were financed by Saudi Arabia because Assad is an Alawite (part of Shia Islam) and he protected Christians and other religious minorities. His type of Islam is hated by the Saudi regime, the current “king” of Saudi Arabia has said that “One and a half billion Sunni are “tired” of Shia and want it gone”. That means that he wants Shia Muslims gone, which can only mean that he wants millions of Shia Muslims dead.

It is hard to tell exactly why Saudi Arabia poured so much money into the Syrian “rebel” cause. But Obama armed them, the diplomatic team murdered in Benghazi were shipping weapons from Gadaffi’s armouries to Syria.

The situation saddens me. A country has been destroyed, people have been driven into hiding, ancient churches and monasteries have been destroyed, and historical masterpieces leveled.

Would we not shatter it to bits?

This week’s news is disturbing for several reasons. It certainly is sad to witness the escalation of terrorism and war, particularly now in Libya, Tunisia, and Syria, but it is the element of contradiction that shouts from the headlines of those stories that is, perhaps, the most disturbing of all.

The contradiction in the stories in the Middle East is that it is almost impossible to tell who is fighting terrorism and who is protecting terrorism. A recurring thread is that the US is leading a great military campaign against ISIS but it also delivers weapons to ISIS, provides aid to ISIS, attacks ISIS with powder-puff blows, and does everything to prevent Russia from knocking the hell out of ISIS.

Turkey and Egypt, allies of the US, are performing similar roles. In the name of fighting terrorism, they somehow manage to do more harm to those who genuinely are fighting ISIS than to ISIS itself. If you haven’t yet picked up on this consistent contradiction, this week’s news will make it abundantly clear.

Whenever there is a consistent contradiction, it is a sign that it isn’t a contradiction at all but that our expectations are based on wrong assumptions. That clearly is the case with the war on terrorism.

To resolve the contradiction, we must discard the assumption on which it is based. The assumption is that Western nations are fighting terrorism because they want to put an end to violence, death, and destruction. The replacement assumption is that they are fighting terrorism precisely because doing so creates violence, death, and destruction. In other words, terrorists are essential and must not be eliminated. Otherwise, there would be no one to fear and no justification for war.

Absurd as that may seem, you will find that it removes the contradiction and explains literally all aspects of the war on terrorism – and more. But, why would any normal person want war?

The answer is that the people making these decisions are not normal. They belong to a small, elite core of global financiers and politicians who have an agenda that fires their imaginations and dreams, but it requires the complete restructuring of society. They want to replace nationalism with a global government based on the model of collectivism. They believe that the way to bring that about is to destroy all existing systems that do not fit that model and then build a “new world order” on top of the rubble.

This strategy was dramatically illustrated in a stained-glass window in the Beatrice Webb house in Surry, England, former headquarters of the Fabian Society. The Fabians are a highly influential organization promoting global collectivism since 1884. Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, was a Fabian.

Across the top of the stained-glass window appears the last line from Omar Khayyam:

Dear love, couldst thou and I with fate conspire
To grasp this sorry scheme of things entire,
Would we not shatter it to bits, and then
Remould it nearer to the heart’s desire!

Beneath this line, the mural depicts George Bernard Shaw, one of the better known Fabians, and Sidney Webb striking the Earth with hammers.*

For many years, the Exide battery plant in Vernon, an industrial section of Los Angeles, contaminated air and soil in the surrounding area with lead and arsenic. The extent of damage to residents’ health is still unknown. Exide had sufficient political influence to be allowed to use a temporary toxic-waste permit for over 30 years in order to bypass California’s tough environmental regulations. During that time, it was cited for safety violations more than ten times. Exide is no longer liable for damages because it closed its Vernon plant in 2014 and was allowed to cap its liability by setting aside $50 million for cleanup and $9 million for damages. Israel says it will covertly combat boycott activists online. In response to Israeli occupation of Palestine, Palestinians launched the BDS (boycott, divestiture and sanctions) movement a decade ago, and it is now having an impact on Israel’s economy. Britain’s Conservative government will announce a new law that prohibits local councils, student unions, and other public bodies from boycotting goods for political reasons. Syria: A second attack on a hospital established by Doctors Without Borders has left questions about who is doing this. All sides in the conflict are accusing their enemies. The Turks blamed the Russians who, in turn, said they only target ISIS and al-Nusra terrorist strongholds. Syria’s ambassador, speaking on Russian TV, said there is hard evidence that the hospitals were bombed by US warplanes and ordinance. Monterrey, Mexico: Authorities found “luxury cells” inside the prison where 49 inmates were killed in a brawl last week. The cells had aquariums, saunas, a king-size bed, and a large flat-screen TV. A convenience store, and even a bar was being run by inmates inside the prison. The warden and superintendent were arrested and accused of drug trafficking and failing to apply security measures. Los Angeles: Authorities are assuring the public that the methane gas leak at Porter Ranch is not dangerous. Breathing formaldehyde droplets suspended in the air can cause serious respiratory problems and even cancer. Trump has got to be the male Dowager, Countess Crawley, during this campaign. It is the Crawley’s and Levinson (Shirley McLaine) that spiced up Downton Abbey. Luved it! Trump must use the same script writer.

Am I supporting Trump for President, a man with already two marriage rejection slips? Right now, all bets are off. Have I read Thrump’s less than savory past, yes, but as with Congressman AAron Shock, I found his politically incorrect gestures amusing, the works of an independent mind. Luv it.

To his credit, Trump and Rand Paul were the only ones with reasonable, sane judgments on Foreign Affairs, particularly Russia. My issue is, no more wars.

As for VP, anyone but Jeb. And the Supreme Court? Reagan gave us Sandra Day O’Connor despite heavy protests from Life and Family movements. In politics, you can’t trust anyone!

It’s been a not-so quiet week in Lake Wobegon

Lake Wobegon is a fictional small town in Minnesota created in the mind of one of the world’s greatest story-tellers, Garrison Keillor. Each episode of his long-running
radio show, A Prairie Home Companion, includes a story that begins with that famous line: “Well, it’s been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon.” That has become a code phrase in our family that we use either (1) when we are about to launch into a long and complicated narrative, (2) when, truly, nothing of importance is going on, or (3) we don’t know what else to say and feel that a meaningless statement is better than silence.

I am using a variation of that phrase here primarily for the third purpose. Obviously the world is in great turmoil, and there is much that could be said about every aspect of it, but this is not the place so, since it is hard to know what to say about any of this, I merely want to leave one thought with you.

If you notice, there are several themes that, like threads in a tapestry, appear, disappear, and reappear throughout the fabric of daily news. They are fraud, deceit, plunder, murder, and war.

There is nothing new about any of these, and it could be argued that they always have been with us and always will be, because they are rooted in human nature. I agree with that analysis but would like to shift the issue from IF such things are inevitable to THE DEGREE to which they are inevitable.

I believe that most humans have instincts and tendencies for both of what we call good and evil. That being the case, it makes a difference what kind of a culture we have. Some cultures are tolerant of fraud, deceit, plunder, murder, and war. In fact, some even consider these things to be necessary and praiseworthy. Others, of course, promote the values of honesty, private property, equality-under-law, and respect for individuals against the group.

The next time you read a news report about some horrendous assault against liberty, privacy, health, or even life, itself, think about the culture that permits these things to be done in the name of national security, morality, religion, or any other variant of the greater good for the greater number.

Bottom line: If the world understood the wisdom within the Creed of Freedom and built its laws and constitutions upon them, Lake Wobegon would be a lot quieter than it is today.

Cliven Bundy, the Nevada rancher who touched off an armed showdown with federal authorities in 2014 and who supported a similar confrontation in Oregon in 2016, was arrested at the Portland airport. He faces charges of conspiracy related to the standoff at his ranch. His sons face similar charges. The remaining four occupiers of the federal building in Oregon surrendered on Thursday. Bernie Sanders publicly chastised Hillary Clinton for taking foreign policy advice from former US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger. Argentina: A report from an organization called Physicians in Crop-Sprayed Towns has challenged the theory that the Zika virus epidemic in Brazil is the cause of the increase in microcephaly among newborns. The doctors discovered that most of the sick people live in areas where a chemical called Pyriproxyfen is added to the water to eliminate mosquitoes. It does this by producing malformations in developing mosquitoes, and the doctors say it also produces the malformation called microcephaly in human embryos. The chemical was introduced to the water supply in 2014, and the malformations began to appear in that area shortly thereafter. The US Supreme Court, in a surprise decision, halted Obama’s climate-change regulation against coal plants until all legal challenges have been heard in court. Ohio Governor John Kasich, a current presidential candidate, is expected to sign a bill blocking state and federal funds for groups that perform or promote abortions. Kasich is accused of supporting the bill for political gain, because Ohio law already prohibits state funds from being used for abortions. Monsanto agreed to pay the government $80 million in fines for presenting false accounting information to its shareholders. It failed to list expenses for a costly rebate program to bolster sales for its RoundUp Ready pesticide. Sales plummeted when RoundUp’s patent expired and cheaper brands appeared on the market. Monsanto’s CEO Hugh Grant will voluntarily return $3,165,852 to the company that he received in cash bonuses and stock awards. He will be able to recover this quickly, because his base annual pay was increased to $1.6 million plus a new $1.9 million bonus plus nearly $10 million in “long-term incentives”, which, typically are in the form of stock options at prices below market value. It does this by producing malformations in developing mosquitoes, and the doctors say it also produces the malformation called microcephaly in human embryos. Hello Ken. The wars in Iraq and Iran cannot be compared to a war of a government against an enemy or against its own population. In the Middle East, the insurgents and terrorists are the product of funding and support from the US. In other words, the enemy is controlled opposition.

The Council on Foreign Relations crowd needs a credible and thriving enemy to justify their military presence. Victory over these forces would be easy if there were a will for victory. But prolonged conflict is the goal, not victory or conquest. The effectiveness of Russia’s military action is mute testimony of that fact – and even they have not employed any of the weapons of mass destruction and control that now are available. All wars are not wars of attrition – unless the contestants want them that way for purposes other than military conquest.

I agree when you say that the hearts and minds of the American people are in the right place, but my point is that millions of hearts and minds now can be incinerated in an instant by a few trained, technicians at the controls of high-tech weaponry previously unknown in history.5

It’s called a soft revolution

Last week’s editorial concluded that there are two kinds of revolution: violent and non-violent, and that, in the modern world, non-violent or “soft” revolutions as they are called, are the only ones that stand any chance of success.

We know that militarily powerful regimes can be replaced without violent revolution, because they already have been. The United States, for example, was slowly converted to a collectivist regime through exactly that process.

Governments can be seized through the mass media, the educational system, the entertainment industry, the banking system, and the ballot. Had conquest been attempted through force and violence, it would have failed.

Last week, I wrote: “The new battlefields are the power centers of society: the organizations and institutions that shape national policy. That’s where we lost control to the collectivists and, if we are ever going to get it back, that’s where we will do it.”

Soft revolutions, however, just like revolutions of force and violence, can never succed without leaders, planning, organization, strategy, and funding, so the question is: can these requirements be met within the present freedom movement?

The answer is a resounding yes, and there is an organization, called Freedom Force International, that was designed specifically for that purpose.

I created Freedom Force in 2002 to become the nexus of a global network of people who have the will to participate in a soft revolution for freedom and the imagination to envision a path to that end.

I don’t think so. Look at the middle east, Iraq and Afghanistan. In a shooting war, the enemy advances, we retreat, the enemy camps, we harass, the enemy tires, we attack, the enemy retreats, we pursue.

Hello Ken. The wars in Iraq and Iran cannot be compared to a war of a government against an enemy or against its own population. In the Middle East, the insurgents and terrorists are the product of funding and support from the US. In other words, the enemy is controlled opposition.

The Council on Foreign Relations crowd needs a credible and thriving enemy to justify their military presence. Victory over these forces would be easy if there were a will for victory. But prolonged conflict is the goal, not victory or conquest. The effectiveness of Russia’s military action is mute testimony of that fact – and even they have not employed any of the weapons of mass destruction and control that now are available. All wars are not wars of attrition – unless the contestants want them that way for purposes other than military conquest.

I agree when you say that the hearts and minds of the American people are in the right place, but my point is that millions of hearts and minds now can be incinerated in an instant by a few trained, technicians at the controls of high-tech weaponry previously unknown in history.
