Thousands of people stampeded through the streets in Taiwan to chase a Snorlax. A Snorlax is a Pokémon character who is very powerful when he wants to be but who eats and sleeps most of the time.
Thousands of people running through the streets chasing a Snorlax on their smartphones is a sobering sight. It does not speak well for the future in which fantasy could replace reality, and digital ‘companions’ could be programmed to trigger mob action and even insanity.
Come to think of it, the future is already here.

An unarmed Palestinian man was shot and killed by Israeli forces. The man’s family says the killing was unprovoked, but the Israeli army says the man was running toward a military post. Human rights groups have accused Israeli forces of using lethal force where non-lethal measures would have been appropriate. Since October 2015, Israeli troops and settlers have killed 223 Palestinians, including unarmed demonstrators, bystanders, and attackers. Twelve people were killed when three terrorists stormed the American University of Afghanistan in Kabul. One of the attackers blew himself up to blast open the school door. Turkey is invading Syria under the banner of defeating ISIS, but the real goal is to prevent its Kurdish enemies from creating a contiguous Kurdish territory. Hello Norann. I’ll try to keep this short inasmuch as the basic issue is quite simple. The problem lies in the fact that the issue is controversial, and many will have trouble accepting my analysis without a great deal of evidence and documentation, which will not be possible in this brief response. Nevertheless, here it is:
I believe that America should follow the Constitution and not engage in war unless it is in response to a formal declaration of war by Congress. There is not much controversy over that part. But I do not think that America should declare war against the Islamic State, because the Islamic State is not a real state or nation or any other well-defined enemy. In fact, it is predominantly the creation of the CIA and other so-called national-security agencies of the federal government. It is the fulfillment of a strategy best summarized as the best enemy money can buy and is used to justify a strong military presence in the Middle East and a police state at home.
That is not to say that ISIS is not evil to the core, but it is to say that ISIS kills its own Islamic people if they get in the way of its plans, thus proving that Islam is not the driving force. The driving force is money and military support from the US and NATO countries. For Congress to declare war on ISIS on the assumption that it is a war on Islam would be to play into the hands of the cabal of CFR neocons who hatched the scheme in the first place. The real enemy is within.

It’s obvious we’ve been ‘played’ by the rich and their stooge public officials since at least the Hylton case in the late 1700’s. Court is for making public policy and for political engineering; It’s never been for “justice” (nor even for “law enforcement” as Oliver Holmes said). It’s all just one gigantic, expensive, and costly “dog and pony show”!
