The problem with honesty

The problem with honesty is that it seriously reduces the number of party invitations you get.

Most people give lip service to the old adage that honesty is the best policy, but we all have learned that there are times when it can get you into a lot of trouble. If a woman asks her husband if he likes the nightgown she just bought, he better know the difference between an honest answer and the right answer.

I was raised by a wonderful woman who I called Aunt Alice. The family genealogy is clouded, because my father was adopted, so it’s not clear if Auntie was my true aunt or an earth-bound angel who took me into her home and raised me.

Aunt Alice taught me a great deal about balancing honesty and diplomacy. When grading papers for her high school English students, she would never write “This is terrible” in the margin but might write “This needs improvement”. If someone proudly displayed a modern-art painting and asked her opinion, even if it looked like droppings on the bottom of a birdcage, she would say, “My goodness, that is truly remarkable, dear.” In our family, statements like that are called auntieisms.

All of this has come to mind as I contemplate how to deal with a topic in the news this week that requires total honesty but which also is loaded with emotional triggers that could cause some people to become angry. I have concluded that, in this case, the issue is so important that diplomacy must take a back seat to honesty. One can stretch the truth a bit about the nightgown, but if there is a Black Widow spider clinging to the strap, it’s time for total honesty.

All of this is merely a lead-in to the article in this week’s edition with new information about 9/11. To say that it is controversial is a huge understatement. There is no doubt that some people will be angry because they will understand immediately that it challenges the government’s version of what happened that day. The reason for their anger is that they love America and have come to believe that it is unpatriotic to question the government’s story.

OK, I understand that, but look! There’s a Black Widow spider clinging to that story!

I may have questions about certain features of the alternative story revealed in this interview, but total honesty compels me to say that I think the scenario presented by this former airline stewardess could be the missing piece of the 9/11 puzzle. If you ever have wondered about who some of the passengers were on those planes and what happened to them, you should go to the Rebekah Roth interview in the Analysis section and consider what she has to say.

This would require a change in the constitution that has prohibited such action since the end of WWII. Scientists from Holland, England, and Japan have demonstrated that brain activity is disrupted when an operating cell phone is placed on the ear. Bryan Shaw, Chairman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and a professor at the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department of Texas A&M University, testified that the EPA is wrong in declaring carbon dioxide as dangerous to human health. India makes a move to reduce citizen gold demand. The government is encouraging holders of physical gold to put the metal in banks and earn interest. A new “gold-bond” program would allow citizens to buy interest-bearing bonds (paper certificates) that supposedly are backed by gold. Hungary now is picking up refugees at the Syrian border and delivering them directly to Austria’s border. This is because Hungary’s resources have been strained by the migration of nearly 200,000 refugees traveling through their country on the way to the EU so far this year. Moldova: Protesters are demanding that the President, the General Prosecutor, and Governor of the state bank resign because of the disappearance last year of $1.3 billion. Mainstream media has depicted refugees only in a positive light as repressed victims, but there is another side of the story. It includes migrants throwing rocks at their hosts, fighting with each other, destroying property, wasting food, provoking soldiers, and staging propaganda photos. Most of these are not Syrians. A former Sergeant in the Marine Corps took a new job as a high school teacher. Just before the school year started, he injured his back. He was required to wear a plaster cast around the upper part of his body. Fortunately, the cast fit under his shirt and wasn’t noticeable.

On the first day of class, he found himself assigned to the toughest students in the school. The smart-aleck punks, having already heard the new teacher was a former Marine, were leery of him, and he knew they would be testing his discipline in the classroom. Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, he opened the window wide and sat down at his desk. When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he picked up a stapler and stapled the tie to his chest.

Dead silence….. The rest of the year went smoothly.

CARTOON ON VACCINATIONS

I sometimes get positive email from people with good ideas for cartoons. I haven’t been able to draw them all, but I have thought about them. The idea for this cartoon came from a certain Alex L. I realized it was a good idea worth developing and so I did. A few years ago I drew a cartoon that featured forced inoculations and I was laughed at. But now it has become a law in California, and some presidential candidates such as Ben Carson are openly espousing it. We are being treated like cattle, and we’d better start speaking out against these things before the government decides we are ready for their slaughterhouse.

IS MONEY REALLY CREATED OUT OF NOTHING?

I hope that someone (maybe Mr. Griffin?) can give me a more detailed explanation about something from “THE CREATURE” book about “people making up money out of nothing”? I’m still unclear on that concept? Is it a case of no gold / silver backing our paper currency or does it mean something else? Please help me here?

REPLY FROM GEG: Hello James, the short answer is that, when any of the banks that comprise the Fed make a loan, except under some minor circumstances, they have no money to lend of their own. They simply create it for the specific purpose of lending it. When the loan is paid back, the money goes out of existence again, but the banks have the benefit of collecting interest on it while it exists. That’s interest collected on “nothing”. In truth, however, it is not really nothing. It is worse than that. It is debt. It is the IOU that borrowers gave to the banks in return for the money. So, in reality, the money was created out of debt. That’s it in a nutshell.
