THIS WEEK IN REVIEW

Indiana: Anti vote-fraud activist and Trump supporter, Gary Welsh, was found dead just before the Indiana primary in the stairwell of an apartment with a gun next to him. Police quickly ruled it a suicide. An ominous message was posted on his blog before his death hinting that he may not be around to see the election results. Welsh claimed that Senator Marco Rubio attended gay ‘foam parties’ in the 1990’s and provided photos of the event. He also provided photographic evidence that Senator Rubio’s father had worked with Oswald and was involved in the JFK assassination. Yup. Suicide, for sure. InfoWars 2016 May 6 (Story)

Baghdad, Iraq: The US is sending 25 heavily armed Marines to defend the American embassy. This is in response to hundreds of protestors breaking into the international ‘Green Zone’ last week where politicians are headquartered. Protests have been led by a Shi’ite cleric. CNN 2016 May 6 (Story)

Greenpeace leaked 248 pages of the secret Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) treaty that show how it will destroy jobs, food safety, and online privacy. Following France’s refusal to endorse the treaty, a poll in Germany showed that 70% of its citizens also oppose the TTIP. Support for the deal is falling apart in the US – and the UK as well. Washington State: Three more workers were hospitalized after inhaling radioactive fumes at the Hanford Nuclear Plant. Last week, 19 workers were sent for radiation evaluations after being exposed to a leaking nuclear-waste tank. Hanford stores 2/3 of America’s nuclear waste, a total of 56 million gallons, and the system is gradually falling into disrepair. RT 2016 May 4 (Story)

New Mexico: For decades, the Los Alamos Nuclear Laboratory has discharged water from its cooling towers into Sandia Canyon. The towers are lined with chromium, which has led to the creation of a mile-long, underground chromium deposit that now threatens an aquifer, drinking water, and tribal lands. High levels of chromium can cause cancer. To neutralize this contamination will cost hundreds of millions of dollars. RT 2016 May 4 (Story)

Detroit: Nearly three years following the city’s record-setting bankruptcy, residents face a continuing and growing crisis over lack of money. City officials say they must turn off water service to as many as 20,000 households that have failed to pay their water bills. If that’s not cataclysmic enough, for a second straight day, nearly all public schools were closed after teachers called in sick in a wage dispute. 47,000 students have no school to attend. The Johnson & Johnson company was hit with a $55-million judgment based on evidence that its talcum powder was a primary cause of the plaintiff’s cervical cancer. This follows a similar jury verdict in February for $72-million in the case of another woman who had cervical cancer and died from it. The company denies responsibility, but an expert witness said that there have been 20 studies that indicate talc is carcinogenic. There are more than a thousand more cases pending. A class-action lawsuit for false advertising has been filed against Quaker Oats after traces of the pesticide glyphosate were found in samples of oatmeal. The complaint is not that the levels were thought to be dangerous, but that the company was not telling the truth when it labeled the product as 100% natural. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Monsanto’s weed-killer, Roundup. Plaintiffs are seeking refunds and asking PepsiCo (Quaker’s parent company) either to reformulate the product or disclose the presence of glyphosate in it. Eater 2016 May 2 (Story) (Cached)

US Senator Charles Schumer is calling for a federal probe into the practices of a billboard advertising company that uses electronic devices inside its billboards to extract data from the smartphones of people walking or driving by. The company says it gathers no information about their identities, just their purchase and travel patterns. Critics, however, point out that it is an easy matter to merge this information with data obtained from other sources to discover personal identities. IB Times 2016 May 2 (Story) (Cached)

NATO will send four battalions of ground troops, a force of about 4,000 soldiers, to the Russian border along the Baltic. Troops are to be deployed in Poland and around the former Soviet states of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Western media are following the Pentagon script that NATO is merely responding to the threat of a Russian invasion of Eastern Europe. AntiWar 2016 May 1 (Story) (Cached)

US: The House Armed Services Committee approved an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that now requires women to register with the Selective Service. If Congress brings back the draft, women will be conscripted the same as men. Some people support the draft in hopes that it will cause opposition to aggressive wars. However, Ron Paul argues that this will not happen until people recognize and reject the war propaganda from the military-industrial complex and mainstream media. RPI 2016 May 1 (Story) (Cached)

Zwickau, Germany: Angry protesters shut down the pro-refugee speech of Federal Justice Minister Heiko Maas and then chased him into the streets. The leftist leaders who opened Germany’s borders are complaining that the speaker’s right to free speech was violated. However, Maas, himself, is an advocate of censorship laws that classify opposition to mass immigration as “hate speech” and, for that, he demands persecution, fines, and jail-time. Kunduz, Afghanistan: The US military bombed a ‘Doctors Without Borders’ hospital in October, 2015, killing 42 people. Initially, the government denied the charge but, later, changed its story and blocked an independent investigation. It now says it was a tragic accident. The Intercept 2016 Apr 29 (Story) (Cached)

Aleppo, Syria: A ‘Doctors Without Borders’ hospital was bombed last week, killing at least fourteen people, including three doctors. Rebel groups, backed by the US, blamed the attack on Syrian or Russian forces, but are not sure which. Russia denies involvement, and Syria has nothing to gain from such an attack. This appears to be part of an ongoing false-flag operation in which the only benefit is to blame the attacks on one’s enemy so as to engineer public opinion. RT posted 2016 Apr 30 (Story) (Cached)
