FBI Director James Comey will decide whether or not to prosecute Hillary Clinton for placing classified information on her private email server. If he does, she will be eliminated from the presidential race. Comey served on the investigation of Sandy Berger in 2004 that had consequences for him that should equally apply to Hillary. (See story below for those details.) The Hill 2015 Dec 1 (Story) (Cached)

What’s the big deal about Hillary’s emails? She removed classified documents and placed them on her personal home server, which is an illegal act, even for the Secretary of State. In 2001, a Bill Clinton adviser by the name of Sandy Berger took five classified documents in this fashion and had to pay a fine, serve two years’ probation, do community-service, and give up his security clearance and law license for this crime. By comparison, Hillary removed and retained hundreds or thousands of classified documents. Washington Post 2015 August 3 (Story) (Cached)

The NSA can no longer legally continue bulk data collection but must make specific requests to telephone companies to retrieve data and only if someone is suspected of being a threat to national security. This new restriction is the result of the USA Freedom Act that gave Congress six months to replace the previous program with something less intrusive – which it failed to do. [In view of the fact that the NSA is notorious for ignoring previous laws and constitutional restraints, it seems naive to believe that it now will stop random data collection.] Reason 2015 Nov 29 (Story) (Cached)
