Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen says that the Fed is considering investing in the stock market if Congress will authorize it. [This is almost humorous. For many years, the Fed has operated a so-called Plunge-Protection Team, comprised of the nation’s largest investment firms, that has invested covertly in the stock market through secret deals in which investment losses, if any, are passed on to the taxpayers. Now the Fed is thinking that it might be better to bring the operation into the open by holding the stock directly and making it legal. If the Fed were to ‘invest’ in the market, it would create money out of nothing to acquire stock shares at prices higher than real investors are willing to pay. The political advantage is that it would conceal the reality of falling stock prices and makes the public think the economy is booming when it really is flat on its face. The losses will be passed on to the public through inflation. What could possibly be wrong with such a wonderful plan?] ETF Daily News 2016 Sep 29 (Story) (Cached)
