In the February 19 issue of Unfiltered News we ran an article about the Obama Administration promoting a government loan for the construction of nuclear power plants in Georgia. Then we added the comment: "We believe nuclear power is the cheapest, safest, and most environment-friendly energy source, far better than fossil fuel with it's pollution and smoke-related health hazards; but we do not think the proper function of the state includes financing commercial ventures." To which Charles responded:

THIS WAS MY REPLY:
Charles, my comments are based on years of interest in this topic, and my files are loaded with information that led me to that conclusion. Most of it, however, is in printed form, having come from the pre-Internet era, and it would be laborious for me to make it publicly available. On the other hand, the Internet now is loaded with new material and more recent studies that carry the same message, so I have listed a few of those sources below for those who want to pursue the matter.

There is little question about nuclear energy being cheaper and cleaner than conventional fossil-fuel power, but people understandably get hung up on the safety issue, in view of the negative publicity generated by the Chernobyl accident. The point that almost always is missing from a discussion of this issue is that conventional power generation (primarily fossil fuel) is not really a health HAZARD, it is a health DISASTER. Because of the illness and death caused by its toxic waste (everything from asthma to cancer), it does not carry a POSSIBILITY of an accident that will kill tens of thousands of people. It carries a 100% GUARANTEE of doing so, and it does exactly that every year. Once this reality is put back into the equation, it is not controversial to say that nuclear energy is safer by far than energy from fossil fuels.

Ideally, we all would like to see wind power or solar power or wave power or some other non-polluting source of energy, but none so far can even come close to providing the needs of modern civilization. I believe that someday – perhaps very soon – a new technology will be perfected that will make that possible and, if the people who now are leading the crusade for cap-and-trade don’t succeed in burying it, it will be the ultimate answer. Meanwhile, we are stuck with a choice between fossil fuel and nuclear. Based on cost and safety, that choice is clear.

In his letter of 2-24-2010, writer Terrence wondered if this is
the proper forum to discuss the possible existence of
extraterrestials. As a persistent reader of both news items and
reader comments herein, I answer "Yes" to that question.

First, the subject is of considerable interest to many of us and
we are grateful for any added information available. If I had not
seen Dr. Greer's book, Hidden Truth, Forbidden Knowledge,
advertised on this website, I may never have known about it and
thus missed my chance to buy it.

Second, the subject fits well into the approach used in managing
this forum. It is basically non-judgemental of reader's ideas and
allows everyone to decide for themselves, based upon the information
provided. I have seen a number of U.F.O's and have friends who
have personally seen both vehicles and aliens, some being viewed
in the company of many other people at the same time. I say this
without any desire to convince anyone. I could care less if I am
believed. It is a matter of curiousity. This website offers a feast
for those hungry for information, but force-feeds no one.

Once again, thank you for the veritable avalanche of dependable information that you provide us all every week. It is indispensable. As a practicing dentist for 45 years and one who refuses to put mercury fillings in my patients teeth, I feel compelled to correct the statement by David Gutierrez in the above referenced article. Early on in this article he states that: "The number one cause of human mercury poisoning in the United States is the consumption of fish and shellfish". This is absolutely NOT true! Far and away, the single most significant source of mercury poisoning in human beings is mercury from their dental fillings! It is a greater source of contamination than ALL other sources combined, including "the consumption of fish and shellfish". I know this to be an incontrovertible fact, having studied this subject in depth for the last 25 years. This is not to say that the other information in the article is not important, but having been "in the trenches " in the mercury battle for a quarter of a century qualifies me to be able to speak authoritatively on this very important health issue. This is a fact that I would stake my life on! Once again, many thanks for all you do.

DOCTOR DEFENDS BREAST-CANCER SCREENING

The article in Natural News on breast cancer being caused by mammography is highly misleading. e.g. "....specifically that women under 50 should avoid them..." The report by USPSTF did not even come close to wording their results that strongly. The report did say that routine annual screening mammography should not be undertaken without discussion with a woman's personal physician. The Task Force was trying to make the point that the benefit from screening every woman every year from age 40 to age 50 does not have as much benefit as screening above age 50, and it therefore should be discussed individually rather than making a blanket recommendation for or against.

It is statistically true that some women will die as a result of not having annual screening mammography, but that only belies the very name of the procedure -- screening. It is not a diagnostic test. Screening of any kind is designed to pick up as many true positives as possible consistent with a low rate of true negatives and including considerations of cost, side effects, and provable benefit such as length of post screening survival both with and without a diagnosis of cancer resulting.

Further, we have known all along that breast cancer screening with mammography does cause some cases of cancer. (You can't tell which ones) However, the studies which were large enough to have valid statistics clearly showed that the survival advantage far outweighs the disadvantage and that with ongoing screening those cancers which are caused will be detected and "cured" due to being at a very early stage.

It is unfortunately very easy to convince uninformed citizens that screening is "bad" for you by pointing out the downside without giving balancing credit to the "good" side. This article does just that, and I can only recommend against depending on it to assist someone trying their best to make an informed decision regarding this contentious issue.

SHOULD THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTRATERRESTRIALS BE DISCUSSED IN THIS FORUM?

This letter is in response to the anonymous writer who had responded to Schlernitzauer's view on the possibility of alien existence. ... If your going to discuss a subject that the general population has very little understanding of, then you must choose to discuss it on a forum where people do understand it or are at least more open-minded to the subject. People look to the Freedom Force news letter for updates regarding governmental issues, banking issues, and health news. But the majority of the subscribers may be turned off to the subject of aliens, because it simply sounds unbelievable.

This is because we live in a culture that has been conditioned to view aliens as strictly the stuff of fiction. It is rarely seriously discussed in the main-stream media, and the available evidence is never shown. I guess the basic thing I'm trying to say is that the subject of aliens is a little too esoteric for most people and, if the subject is discussed too often and not in the proper manner, then I think it could possibly chip away at the credibility of Freedom Force.

What is the proper manner in which to discuss aliens if you insist on doing so? I think one should avoid asserting too many claims and should broach the subject using a more Socratic method by asking questions that may make people think or pique their curiosity. When you say stuff like "Yes, there are other dimensions and there are many entities in those other dimensions, and some of them are multi-dimensional. One of them is the famous Sasquatch, which is an intelligent, compassionate being that for the most part avoids humans" as did the Anonymous Writer (in response to Schlernitzauer's comment), then you run the risk of sounding crazy and alienating people (no pun intended).

Another thing is that you must include references for your subject matter so that people have the opportunity to do their own research and judge for themselves. My personal reference for my convictions on extraterrestrial involvement with the human race is the works of Zechariah Sitchin.

Only those with an open mind will be enlightened on various esoteric subjects. Just the fact you, the reader, are reading this comment on the Freedom Force news letter means you have an open mind toward government conspiracy (a subject that already has a bad enough rap in the mainstream). Maybe you should go the whole 9 yards and open your mind toward other "unbelievable" subjects. However, when researching a certain subject, never come to a full conclusion based on just one information source and always beware of logical fallacies. The truth is fragile, and we can never be too sure of it.

SHOULD WE TRUST GOVERNMENT?

Considering, that even Ayn rand agreed with our founding fathers, that there is a proper role for government to protect and defend the people's safety from aggression, fraud, theft, etc., meaning they trusted government with this power;

And considering, that the corporations, including insurance companies, are engaging in bribery, deception, unethical business practices, breach of contract and what amounts to manslaugter, in the case of rejecting legitimate claims for health care and Laetrile; And considering, that some employers have already demonstrated, that being a "self-insured-group" serves to give better coverage at less cost;

And considering, that "some ends justify some means under some circumstances" (in your own words). I believe, that it would be the proper role of government to revoke the insurance companies' license to do business and defend and protect the safety and interests of the people by providing them with an affordable, insurance alternative, (a public option) allowing the people to be a "self-insured-group". As long as it's voluntary and self-sustaining with the premiums, I don't see that it violates the Constitution or individual rights. If the gov't can provide insurance against aggression, foreign and domestic, I see no problem with having them provide the agency for other kinds of insurance. This does not have to interfere with private delivery of health care. It would be, strictly administrative.

Either we trust government or we don't. We trust them, already with guns, courts, etc. If we no longer trust government at all, then we have to scrap the Constitution because the Constitution provides for gov't.

At one time, I thought that anarchy would be the answer. Now, I think that we need to live under a Constitutional democracy, rather than a corrupted republic. I am sick of being misrepresented... But this is a separate debate.

Hello Grace.
You have raised several interesting issues. I will not attempt to address all of them but only those that relate to the principles expressed in The Creed of Freedom which is the ideological foundation of Freedom Force International. If you are not familiar with that, please take a moment to review it here.

Your concept of offering a “public option” that is entirely voluntary is consistent with the Freedom-of-Choice mandate of the Creed, but that already exists in the form of private insurance. People can purchase it or not as they see fit. If the government were to administer such a plan and truly leave it on a voluntary basis, and if the cost of the program were not forced on those who didn't want it, it would still be consistent with the Creed. However, when government gets hold of any program, it never remains voluntary and seldom is financed on the basis of participation. The nature of government is to use coercion to achieve its objectives, and the nature of politicians is to distribute costs to favor special-interest groups and donors. So, while your proposal is based on the highest of motives on your part, my view is that it would not accomplishthe hoped-for objectives.

You have said that either we trust government or we don’t. Well, I don’t – any more than our Founding Fathers did. They knew that the state had to be given the power to defend their federation against military invasion from abroad, but they added the Bill of Rights to the Constitution and created checks and balances precisely because they did not trust the government to run their lives, and that includes providing health care. Jefferson said it best when he wrote: "Speak not of just men in office. Rather, let us bind men down with the chains of the Constitution." I agree with him 100%.

Hello Vincent.
The LaRouche program for economic reform is deceptively appealing. It is appealing because it is motivated by an entirely justified disgust with the existing banking system and plundering of the middle class. It is deceptive because, after gaining our favorable attention by condemning the bad guys, it then proposes exactly the same fiat-money system that made the plundering possible. The only difference is that the proposed system would be run by politicians instead of bankers.

There is not even a hint of backing the new currency with something tangible, such as gold or silver, which means there would be no limit to the quantity they could create. It would be backed by “credits” issued according to formulae drafted by the wise and trustworthy leaders of China, Russia, India, and the U.S. The new oligarchy would be composed primarily of political figures instead of financiers, but the middle class would continue to be plundered either way. Fiat money is fiat money regardless of who creates it.

I believe this is why LaRouche is accepted as a serious analyst among so many global leaders. They know that his game plan would not change the reality of elitist control through the New World Order. It might shuffle the players a bit, but the deadly game would continue as planned.

If you doubt that LaRouche is a collectivist, consider that his proposal, as explained in this interview, would issue “massive” amounts of government credit (that means money) for job creation and public works. That is no different than the WPA project of FDR or the so-called stimulus programs of Obama. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Obama invite LaRouche to become an advisor, a Czar, or a regional governor. They would get along fine. Collectivism is collectivism regardless of slogans.
