REPORT FROM CONTINENTAL CONGRESS 2009

Dear friends, family, patriots, and ostriches,
Continental Congress 2009 began yesterday with the election of Michael Badnarik as President to preside over the proceedings. The opening ceremony was stunning. Music with Patriotic drum beating was blasting through the chamber to a procession of flags from all the states, carried by the delegates. I led [2nd in line] and carried the Illinois Flag that was placed on the stage next to the united States Flag. It was like something out of a movie. The room has a resemblance and feel of the original room of the original continental congress. We [the delegates] understood the most important task that lies ahead.

Day two
8:00 AM. The President called the Continental Congress 2009 [CC2009] to order in an auditorium, where Michael Badnarik gave an overview on the Declaration of Independence and our unalienable rights. With over 13 years experience on related issues, I can definitively say his speech was nothing short of brilliant. He was stopped several times by applause. The speech will be archived at some time soon and should be viewed by all. Bob Shultz spoke also on the First Amendment "right to petition".

The CC2009 moved to our delegation room, where we debated over the people's right to petition their government for a redress of grievances. "We the People" filed several petitions over the past 15 years. The government's response in most cases was silence, and in some cases, repeated harm. After a couple hours of heated debate on several points, no "remedial" instruction was reached and the issued was "tabled". {Robert's Rules of Order jargon].

After lunch, Constitutional Attorney, Mark Lane spoke on the lawsuit filed in District Court in Washington D.C., on the First Amendment right to petition, and the government's lack of response. The District court's decision was that the people do have the right, but the government does not have to answer [thereby making the right non-existant]. The Appellate Court affirmed and the Supremes "denied" hearing the case. He brought up several points of the court's decision which were at best embarrassing, and at worse, treasonous.

The CC2009 convened to debate the issue and prepare a remedial instruction/solution to present to our faithful government. After several hours of debate on many issues, the "Committee of the Whole" was unable to reach a conclusion, adn the matter was tabled. But, much was learned on the first day of deliberations, and there is much hope for tomorrow.

We were supposed to recess 45 minutes before dinner, but Delegate [Attorney] Orly Tatz brought up an important issue, and the delegation continued up until dinner with no break. Committees are now meeting [after hours] in the restaurants and bars of Pheasant Run. This a a very determined delegation who understands the grave situation our country is in.

Time is the tyrant. And, although we are looking only to peacful solutions, many are rattling the sabers.

Lord Christopher Monckton, former Science Advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has challenged Al Gore, if he has the courage, to debate the validity of global warming on National Television.

Meanwhile 60,000 farmers in the San Joaquin Valley, California have had the irrigation pumps closed down by environmentalists who claim it is endangering a species of FISH! This has turned thousands of acres of farmland into a parched wasteland and deprived thousands of farmers of their livelihood, causing forced bankruptcy & record unemployment and an estimated $700 million in farm & crop losses as the 3 year long draught continues. This in turn, increases the prices of fruits & vegetables as we are forced to import from other countries! Further, health issues arise with imported foods, since reports of salmonella food poisoning from Mexican imported goods are not uncommon. I can personally testify that the effect salmonella food poisening had on me was life changing.

Ed, I fail to comprehend the insanity of these environmentalists! What kind of mindset do they have that places fish before people? Can you please enlighten us?

Their excuses about the endangered 'smelt' & 'salmon' are pathetic when we know the engineering & technological alternatives are available to divert water to the San Joaquin Valley. Thank you allowing me to vent my absolute disgust for the Al Gore regime.

Stan, environmentalists are not crazy. It's just that they have a different agenda than most folks think they do. They don't really give a hoot about the Spotted Owl or the Zebra-Striped Barking Spider. Their mission is to drive all free men into extinction and to become our rulers. I would like to amplify your response to that question by stating that there is a great deal of confusion about what science really is.

Science is a tool that yields predictions about natural phenomena. It is characterized by model creation, the axiomatic phase and experimentation, the pragmatic phase. Iterate these two phases and you will develop a tool for prediction. This is what Galileo Galilei’s method describes.

To raise a tool up to the level of a god is absurd and those who do so get bad results. They would have to go to those who claim to speak for science in that role because tools don’t speak. These people who speak for science in that role either are deluded or are hucksters wishing to take advantage of the ignorant and foolish.

Much hoopla has come from ignorance of the straightforward definition of the term. All this Evolution debate is nonsense as Evolution’s core hypotheses are untestable. It should properly be classified and taught as philosophy rather than science.

CORRECTION TO STORY ABOUT VACCINATED MEXICAN OFFICIALS

I am writing to let you know that a story you linked to in the October
23 issue is in error. The link goes to a YouTube video in which ABC's
Peter Jennings states that 160 employees of the Mexican Attorney
General's office had been microchipped: "Mexican officials and police get implanted microchips - for their benefit, of course, and to prevent crime. YouTube 2009 Oct 18"

The ABC News report dates back to 2004, and is inaccurate. ABC News was one of dozens of news outlets that got the story wrong -- it was not 160 people that were implanted, but 18. Shortly thereafter, the attorney general, Manuel Macedo de la Concha, was forced to resign his post amid a political controversy (for reasons that are presumably unrelated to the microchip).

I contacted the office of the attorney general myself in 2004 to verify
the story. That's when I discovered that the VeriChip numbers were
vastly inflated. We issued a press release about the error, complete
with a correction. Here's our press release:

11/29/04 VeriChip RFID Implants in Mexican Attorney General's Office Overstated: Dozens of news outlets unwittingly repeated overblown figure, says CASPIAN. After years of effort to set the story straight, it is frustrating to see this erroneous story re-emerge yet again. We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights.

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness... Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights..

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from!

STAN SEEKS YOUR OPINION OF WHY HIS LETTERS ARE DELETED FROM MAINSTREAM PRESS.

In reference to a recently posted article in the Unfiltered News about deleted comments. The St. Pete Times and Bay News 9 ran the Obama Peace Prize stories and invited comments. I said that my comments had mysteriously disappeared after being posted for a short time.

The saga continues. An organization called Human Events had two reports and also invited comments. One story, called "Surveillance Nation" addressed the issues of Surveillance cameras in the UK, and the monitoring of citizens at protest rallies in order to enter their identification profiles in a central database....under the pretext of catching 'undesirables!

The other Story, called "Obama: A Man Apart" attempted to assess the character traits and devious background of Obama. In the first story, I suggested possible reasons for 'Surveillance cameras' in the UK, and why we can expect an increase in similar citizen monitoring here in the US. In the Obama story, I explained that Obama was selected because of his character traits and vague background! Two separate reports, two separate sets of comments.... both were again, mysteriously deleted. In all, four different sets of comments in four different situations in which I suggested doing the research!

Ed, do you think that the mention of such things as Trilateral Commission or Council on Foreign Relations or Bilderberg Group had anything to do with the deletions? Or, the mention of the same Corporate Entity spreading it's cancer, over the years, from the UK to the USA? Perhaps I am reading too much into it? Is it evident from these deletions that a degree of monitoring and censorship is in effect? It is becoming increasingly difficult and frustrating to choose whom one can trust......these days. Would appreciate some feedback from our readers?

A STORY GIFT TO YOUNG PEOPLE

I recently read "The Creature from Jekyll Island" and wanted to thank you as well as offer you a small gift in return. I found your book edifying and stimulating. At the end I was worried and depressed yet energized and somewhat optimistic. I'm glad I read it and once again, thank you.

Regarding the small gift, I teach children and young teens about the gold standard and honest profit making through fun, simple storytelling. My mission is to introduce free market ideas to kids so that someday they'll understand and support the Constitution in the way the Founding Fathers intended. In some ways, our missions are aligned.

THEY ARE FOUND GUILTY BUT NOT PUNISHED!

From day one, Thomas Jefferson acknowledged that we have certain unalienable rights, among these being the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness "…that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men…"

This is why government establishes laws to punish theft and fraud while providing a mechanism to enforce contracts and protect property rights in a free-market system. Any government falling short of that in a market is impotent, exceeding that is tyrannical. The loss of this awareness causes us to rail against the free market, whereas the real problem is lack of punishment for theft and fraud and lack of recourse when contracts are breached.

For example, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is supposed to shut banks down before liabilities exceed assets, yet they have not and this is why FDIC will run a deficit until at least 2012. The Securities and Exchange Commission granted a slew of 23a exemption letters, allowing banks to lie about their assets, defraud shareholders and put depositors at great risk. (More)
