You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:
1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car? Think before you continue reading. ....

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application. You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first. Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again. The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) answered:

'I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the old lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams.'

Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations. Never forget to think outside of the box.

Does anybody out there have any memory of the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY ..... During the Carter Administration? Anybody? Anything? No?

Didn't think so! Bottom line ... We've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency...the reason for which no one can remember. Ready??????? The 'Department of Energy' was instituted on 8-04-1977 TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

And now it's 2009, 32 years later... and the budget for this NECESSARY department is at$24.2 billion a year. It has
16,000 federal employees and approximately 100,000 contract employees AND LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE! This is where you slap your forehead and say "What was I thinking?"
Ah, yes, good old bureaucracy...

And NOW_ we are going to turn the Banking System, Health Care & the Auto Industry over to government? May God help us !!!

Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it and whose members will be exempt from it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes,
overseen by a surgeon general who is obese and financed by a country that is broke. So... what could possibly go wrong?

USA & BRITISH HEALTH SYSTEMS COMPARED

I am a Briton who has enjoyed living in the USA for 18 years and can compare the health care I received in the US with that which I now receive in Britain.

At an age of 84, I every day celebrate my treatment under the British National Health Service. I am certain that, without the NHS care I have had, I would have been dead 10, or 15 years ago. I have a pacemaker, a digital hearing aid, and take many prescriptions each day, all at no cost to myself. I have had several stays in hospital, for various problems, and have always been full of praise for my care while a patient. I can choose my doctor, choose my hospital, and there is never any charge for anything.

Doubtless, with an immensely large organization such as the NHS, bad situations can occur. But I can assure you that I have never found anyone here who is not truly proud of this wonderful British institution. It makes me sad, and angry therefore, to see the slanders, and libels, being perpetrated against the British NHS, in the US, in order to preserve, what is, to my mind, a wicked, evil, system of exploitation.

As a long time reader of the truth it is time for me to throw my .02 cents in. Regarding Obama ? He had a shrewd campaign manager. Obama is not smart. A good speaker ? OK. But he cannot stand on his own w/o a ‘prompter.’ He has had relatively little time in politics. He seeks to be an enforcer of the socialist, left wing agenda for Soros, MoveOn, ACLU, etc. And the Dems had the nerve to call Sarah Palin inexperienced ? What’s that story about the ‘pot and the kettle’?

When Obama came out with his idiotic CHANGE credo so many voters did not ask two questions that ANY intelligent person would ask. First is WHAT do you want to change ? Next: How much will it cost ? Obama has come to lie about transparency, union support ( Japan profited from ‘Clunkers’ ), earmarks ( 9,000 in the ‘stimulus’ bill ), cap & tax ( contradicting his statement about that ), and now the “fabulous” healthcare bill. Either Obama is delusional, stupid, or the nations biggest liar in the history of the U.S. A pretty good mix at any rate.

A contributor to this column wrote that he thought America reached it’s high point of stupidity when Clinton got re-elected in ’96 – now Obama. I could not agree more. But when you examine the issues of HOW Obama got elected it feels like 1933 Germany. How did he do it ? He fooled the following groups of voters: the unions, the seniors, the college kids, the Jewish voters, and a lot of independent voters. All these groups of voting blocks did not stop and take the time to ask the CHANGE question. What and how much ($). I used to get upset when some Europeans used to all Americans the stupidest voters on the planet. After seeing a tried and true American patriot get defeated by a community organizer, I doubt if I will debate that subject anymore. America, you have let the fox in the chicken coup. Be prepared to face the consequences.

WHO WILL CAST THE FIRST STONE AT HUCKABEE?

Dear Ed,
I followed the links (as best I could) that Connie Ruffley had quoted from about Huckabee. I give credit to Alan Stang, he writes well. My question is; what are his information sources on Huckabee? Again following the links....from newswithviews to judicialwatch....I can't help but ask "who watches the watchers?" Ad infinitum.

Let us be honest, if we dig deep enough into anyone's past, something, however small, will be found to discredit them with. Allow me to borrow an old quote from an old book; "Let he who hath not sinned cast the first stone." In present day vernacular that would translate into something like this; "Is there anyone here who can honestly say that he has never done anything wrong?" And further, if he could possibly prove it, we should certainly consider him for leadership!

I have heard that the CFR had been in contact with Huckabee, and with their long arm of influence, ( e.g. Rupert Murdock's association with CFR ) it would not be at all surprising if he were made an offer he could hardly refuse....his own TV show. Huckabee has been discredited, in part, by Connie Ruffley and Alan Stang over some of the songs & lyrics he performs. Stang even quoted some of the lyrics in his article. Ed, if I were to dig into all the lyrics of the hundreds of songs that my wife and I sing at shows & dances, though mostly oldies but goodies, would we then, be discredited (if running for office) because the words to some of our songs are offensive to some people? Would that disqualify me if I chose to run for office? Entertaining people has taught us that it is impossible to please everyone.

When considering all the other candidates, it was my opinion that Huckabee was the lesser of many evils. So now, what choices do we have left? To the best of my limited knowledge, there remain only two choices; Ron Paul and G. Edward Griffin.....and I know Ed is not interested! That leaves Ron Paul..... and even if the many millions needed to promote him were available...and if he were successful in gaining the Presidency, he would be totally surrounded by enemies of the worst kind. His loyal supporters (us) would only be able to protect him for so long......The real power needed to combat this insidious adversary is in the people. We need to work harder at EFFECTIVELY getting the word out to the unsuspecting American people. If it takes getting Mr. Griffin, ( who is best qualified) on the Huckabee show to get the media exposure he needs to get the word out, then surely saving our nation is far more important than Mr. Huckabee's choice of Southern Rock music. If he is, indeed a phony Minister, then we can be fairly certain that God is aware of it and will know best how to deal with him. If one does not believe in God, then it becomes a moot point.

Whether it is Huckabee, O'Reilly, Hannity,Lou Dobbs or Glenn Beck is not the point.....the point is, doing whatever it takes to let the American people know what is happening behind the scenes before it is too late! We all want what is best for our country and people, so please let's try and work together as Americans...Americans who care.

A VOICE FROM NORWAY: ROLE MODEL FOR THE NEW WORLD ORDER

Hi Ed. Things are moving in various forms here. Norway is, as you might have sensed, a semi communistic state run by a very tight governmental system that pacifies its population by an administration unparalleled in history. There are 4,7 million inhabitants and .3 mill workers in administration and collateral groups working indirectly for administration. This massive administrative group is fed by oil billions; else the whole system would collapse. In such an atmosphere of passivity, Freedom Force International is like a daydream to most. I have talked with numerous people, but they have a deep feeling inside that it does not matter or that Freedom Force may be some dangerous right-wing American group that threatens the social peace.

Norway reflects the future of the USA. It is the role model for the New World Order; a pacified society where people are afraid and do not express openly their views because of loss of privileges. If any person within the system talks against the system, he is without a network and a job.

You awarded a man in Norway for his work for health. He is a good man really, but working in the system, his actions are pacified. He, too, is becoming mainstream, because that is how the system works. It tailors you into mainstream. By stressing social responsibility as an ideal and promoting love and peace as ideals, every opponent to the current system is seen as someone who is antisocial and not caring. We even have examples where a high ranking administrator who has criticized the system was put into a psychiatric hospital with a diagnosis of psychosis and paranoia. This goes for people near the top; one was Mrs. Tafto who was working in the administration of former Prime Minister Gro Harlem Bruntland. So no one is basically secure; serious critique is regarded as bad and even a sign of mental illness.

Promoting Freedom Force International in Russia will be easier as one Russian intellectual said to me: "I have now lived in Norway for 20 years and find it more repressing than old Russia and more dangerous, because we do not know who the enemy is. It is the whole system that is the game; not single groups or dictators." So Norway is a role model for making the ultimate passive society.

Intellectuals these days? Well, they go fishing and do not care any more. Sad, Ed. Very sad.

THE ONLY SOLUTION TO HEALTH CARE PROBLEMS

In reading all of the articles Unfiltered News is presenting against healthcare reform, it's easy for one to conclude that you like the healthcare system that we have right now, and are in support of it remaining exactly the same. But we as a nation spend so much more money per family than other Western countries do on health care, and our health insurance companies sometimes deny paying claims for people who have been insured with them for years, in the interest of maximizing their company's profits.

In your opinion, do we have any problems we need to fix with our current healthcare system? And if so, what do you recommend as the solution for these problems?

This question deserves a lengthy reply dealing with the history and ratiojnale behind it, but the short answer is this: I am not happy with the present health care system because, although it is of high quality in many respects, it is also very expensive. Even worse than the expense, however, is the fact that it represents a near monopoly of drug-oriented health care. This is a result of pharmaceutical companies spending huge amounts of money to lobby Congress to pass laws that seriously handicap non-drug health care. In fact, that is why the system is so expensive. If competition from alternative practitioners were allowed, the quality actually would go up while the cost would be drastically reduced.

The reason I am not in favor of socialized medicine is that the problems with today's system would be made worse. Drug-based care would be further entrenched, what is left of freedom-of-choice would be completely extinguished, the ever-increasing costs would be paid by the common man through taxes and inflation, and the quality would decline.

The only solution to the problems in our present health care system is to get the government OUT of it completely, not to increase its role.

SOCIALIZED MEDICINE VIEWED FROM DOWN UNDER

Dear Mr Griffin,
Thank you for your work and newsletter. I have been a fan and reader for quite a while. I was born in Canada and reside in Australia. Politically, I am a user pays, traditional conservative and anti collectivist.

Here are my observations on socialized medicine for what it is worth. In the 60's in Canada there were many small community hospitals. Every town of 50,000 had one. Doctors offered their services to under-privileged people at reduced or no cost. I have a faint memory that dentists did the same thing. More people were gainfully employed, food quality was better and there was general contentment. As socialized medicine took hold many of these hospitals closed and larger centralized facilities took over. Government control increased. Quality of medical care in socialized Australia is fading but still at a very high standard. A friend's child was born via C Section last week in a public hospital here in Australia. They will pay nothing for the birth and the stay. I have never paid a single doctors bill for any member of my family. We have had our usual broken bones and illnesses.

We often read stories that certain people need special surgery that they can't get it in Canada or Australia or the UK and have to go to the US. These stories are held up to demonstrate the failure of the socialized medicine. The large US market has produced major facilities with highly specialized capabilities. From this vantage point however people who need that kind of assistance are in the minority. I wonder how many US families would like to be able to have a child in a hospital, or have a broken leg set or an appendectomy performed at no cost to them?

In summary,
Do I believe in socialized medicine? No. (but it use it..)
Does it work for the lion share of Australians? Yes.
Is it as good as what it used to be? No.
Is it declining as fast as American medical care? I don't think so.
What is functional socialized medicine dependant on? A river of cash. When this dries up it will fall in a heap.
